The scientific research project "Vascular Impairment as Mediator of Alzheimer´s Disease (VIMAD)" has been approved for funding within the Serbian Scientific Cooperation Program with the Diaspora: Support for Visits of Diaspora Scientists.
The main goal of the VIMAD proposal is to strengthen scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange by establishing collaborative research that will introduce a new in vitro model in neuroscience research in Serbia. THE MAIN RESEARCH GOAL is to elucidate key molecular mechanisms underlying endothelial dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease (АD) using primary brain endothelial cell cultures from AD and control animals of the state-of-the-art APPNL-G-F knock-in mouse model. We are confident that collaboration between the research team of Dr. Željko Pavković from the Department of Neurobiology, Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković", National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade, and Dr. Vesna Tešić from the Department of Neurology, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, USA, will be productive and exceptionally successful, leading to a lasting, long-term partnership.
