On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, a seminar dedicated to current challenges in the prevention and treatment of diabetes was held on November 17, 2025, at the Library of the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković”, organized by the DiaSulFer project.
Lecturers from research groups at IBISS working in the field of diabetes – Dr. Svetlana Dinić, Dr. Marija Đorđević, Dr. Ana Stančić, and Nevena Savić from the Department of Molecular Biology; Dr. Ivana Stojanović and Dr. Dragica Mićanović from the Department of Immunology; and Dr. Nataša Veličković from the Department of Biochemistry presented the latest results of their research. Current clinical insights were shared by Prof. Dr. Mirjana Šumarac from the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, UCCS. Dr. Vesna Otašević highlighted the achievements of the DiaSulFer project to date.
The seminar provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences, and open new questions that will support future collaboration toward a common goal, a better understanding of diabetes and more effective strategies in fighting the disease. The event emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach and continuous efforts in diabetes research and its complications. We thank all participants and speakers for their inspiring contributions and support in organizing this event. World Diabetes Day reminds us that together we can achieve more – through knowledge, collaboration, and dedication.
