Vasilije Živaljević

Vasilije Živaljević completed his B.Sc. degree at the Faculty of Biology at the University of Belgrade in 2022. In the same year, he enrolled in the Master’s program of Experimental Physiology of Animals and Humans, and his Master's thesis was done in the Laboratory of Radiobiology and Molecular Genetics at the Institute of Nuclear Sciences „Vinča”. Vasilije defended his Master's thesis titled “Analysis of glycolipid and inflammatory parameters in the serum of patients with hypothyroidism under levothyroxine therpay” in July of 2023, and successfully completed his M.Sc. degree. In October of 2023, he enrolled in the Ph.D. program of Animal and Human Physiology and obtained the title Junior Research Assistant. In January of 2024, Vasilije got employed at the Institute of Nuclear Sciences “Vinča” in the Laboratory of Radiobiology and Molecular Genetics. In January of 2026. he transfered to the Institute for Biological Research „Siniša Stanković“ to the Department of Biochemistry, where he will complete his doctoral dissertation. Ph.D. thesis will be completed within the EDC-MASLD project (HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-06-01 — Hop on Facility, proposal number: 101136259).

Metabolism is the totality of all chemical reactions that provide energy to cells and maintain the vital state of cells and organisms. Metabolism is a tightly regulated process, and control of metabolic pathways allows organisms to successfully interact with their environment. Metabolic regulation is key to understanding and treating a number of chronic diseases, including diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and cancer.

We are inviting you to join us at the “Menopausal transition in medical and neuroscience research” Symposium, organized by the Serbian Neuroscience Society and Serbian Early Career Endocrinologists and Scientists with IBISS support. The symposium will be held at the European House, Zmaj Jovina 8-10, Belgrade, Serbia, on February 26, 2026.
